Tao Song (b. 1969, Shanghai) is an artist, designer, curator, and founder of O Gallery\uff0c ZIZAOSHE and Yuan Museum. As leading figure in contemporary Chinese design, he began his arts and design education in the late 80s, before launching a series of entrepreneurial endeavors around design in the 90s and 2000s\u2014these have included Song Tao Design Studio, focused on interior, furniture, and exhibition design; Zizaoshe, a pioneering design agency in China dedicated to promoting design excellence in China and abroad; SAY FINE ART, an exhibition space dedicated to revitalizing traditional Chinese handicrafts; and the Association of Chinese Furniture Design Brands, an initiative dedicated to promoting traditional Chinese plastics arts and design. He founded O-Gallery in 2009, a gallery dedicated to contemporary Chinese and international design, and has been a guest professor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in the School of Urban Design since 2012. From 2014\u20132018, he was the consultant and curator of Tianjin International Design Week, the curator of Beijing International Design Week, the consultant of the UCCA Design Committee of Beijing, and an invited curator of the 2016 Triennale di Milano. From 2017\u20132018, Song was the curator of Design Shanghai Xintiandi Design Festival. In 2019, he curated the DongGuan Re-locate Design Festival and founded the Yuan Museum. The following year, he also founded the Home Art Museum in YOSEMITE and Yuan Living in Beijing Yintai Centre. Song served as the curator of Guangzhou CIFF Design Spring from 2020\u20132023. Song also served as the curator of London Design Biennale 2023 Care Pavilion.<\/p>\n

Bridging life and art, his creative scope covers painting, installation, artistic design, and public intervention. Most of his works employ wood, metal, and acrylic to explore classical Chinese aesthetics with contemporary form and material. His works had been exhibited at the Shanghai Art Museum, the Toronto Art Museum in Shanghai, the Chinese Cultural Center in Paris, France, and the Chinese Cultural Center in Berlin, Germany.
\nPreviously, he received an MA in Plastic Arts from Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne University and a BA in Graphic Design and Drawing from National University of Art and Design (Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University).[\/vc_column_text]
